All cylinder heads have different characteristics. Flow bench port testing will provide a very valuable baseline number as to the power and torque potential of a given head/port design. However, there is no substitute for experience in knowing how to fully interpret flow figures relative to port runner volume, engine capacity, cylinder bore size, valve diameters and much much more.
Basically, we suggest customers use flow numbers as a guideline as to what is possible. We are happy to give our opinion of what someone can realistically expect from a given pair of heads on a given engine combination.
There are very many factors governing engine results. Port flow relative to port volume at ALL VALVE LIFTS, not just peak lift flows will determine how well the engine accelerates the vehicle it is in. Keep this in mind before choosing the highest peak flowing heads over the heads that have a stronger average port flow number.
